Clinical Medicine & Surgery Research
Outline
Leader: Joe Proietto
Deputy: Matthew SabinThe members of the Clinical Medicine and Surgery group include the obesity services of the Royal Melbourne, Austin and Western Hospitals as well as the Royal Children’s Hospital and The Royal Women’s and Mercy maternity hospitals.
The mission of the group is to establish evidence-based management of obesity in the public hospitals affiliated to the University of Melbourne. Our clinics will link up with general practice to share the care of obese patients and in the process will educate general practitioners on the treatment of obesity. In addition, it is our aim to educate doctors, students and the public on the newest scientific discoveries that impact on patient care.
The group will facilitate data collection for clinical research, and encourage trials of new medications and surgical techniques.
